Lots of people call me strong. And inspirational. But, most of the time, I just feel like a struggly, panicky mess, who is neither doing enough nor doing it well enough…

I am a mum and step mum to a total of seven children – six girls and one boy. The youngest is seven, the oldest two are nineteen. I was widowed suddenly and unexpectedly aged 34, diagnosed with breast cancer aged 37. I was pronounced clear of cancer aged 38, re-married aged 39. My son suffers from narcolepsy/cataplexy. Despite and because of everything I feel very very lucky, and believe that everything happens for a reason. I have written and self-published two picture books for very young children to help them understand death, funerals and cremation, which have been highly recommended by bereavement charities and bereaved families up and down the country and beyond.
